PROPOSED METHODOLOGY FOR DETERMINING CONVERSION REQUIREMENTS
In Moving Theory into Practice: Digital Imaging for Libraries and Archives, a methodology is proposed for determining conversion requirements for a range of cultural heritage resources, including printed text, manuscripts, works of art on paper, and photographs. This methodology is based on the following steps:

  • Document assessment & objective characterization
  • Translation to digital equivalencies
  • Assignment of tolerance values for pass/fail
  • System calibration and performance testing
  • Image evaluation via visual inspection and software analysis
  • Recording of technical documentation
