Needs AssessmentThe California Preservation Clearinghouse at Stanford Preservation has guidelines for establishing needs assessment and provides a number of helpful links that deal with preservation surveys—conducting them, writing and implementing the reports, and securing funding. Research Libraries Group maintains a site that includes survey instruments and interview protocol points in appendix A. This survey, however, deals with digital preservation needs in RLG member institutions. The National Library of Australia has information on the purpose of a preservation assessment survey, along with key points and a collections description form to include. The Council of State Historical Records Coordinators provides a number of links for needs assessment. |
